Apple reportedly admits major bug in some iPhone 7 and 7 Plus models

There have been issues with Apple's facial recognition tech used on the iPhone X in the past, however, most of those concerns had to do with Face ID not being as secure as Apple had claimed with fancy masks being able to defeat the security.

Apple has apparently acknowledged a problem with its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus models that's causing the speakerphone on those handsets to stop working.

Apple has reportedly rolled out a new support document for its authorised retail stores, mentioning a "new" way to fix the iPhone X FaceID issues if they ever come across one.

The document, however, doesn't explain the issue in detail. Apple has instructed the service providers to run audio diagnostics if the speaker button remains greyed out. With that said, given that the iPhone X is still well under a year old, getting a repair/replacement for a malfunctioning Face ID shouldn't be a problem for customers. for now.

According to an internal document that was acquired by MacRumors, Apple updated its service policy for iPhone X units suffering from Face ID issues. Further, if it fails in this test, the employee has to eventually replace the whole unit with a new device for the consumer.

Tech website MacRumours has reported that an internal Apple document has noted that "customers may experience a grayed-out speaker button during phone calls". If that doesn't work then it may be time to bring the phone to be fixed. But when I try to setup Face ID it says, "Face ID is not available try again later", user posted on his Reddit account.

But although there's now no rivaling the complexity, convenience and security of Cupertino's 3D facial recognition implementation, no technology is ideal, and occasionally, Face ID issues do arise. The front-facing camera works perfectly. However, if you're among those among the affected iPhone 7 users, you should visit your nearby Apple authorized service center to fix this.

Affected users have taken to Reddit to explain that after buying their iPhone X, they have faced issues with both the rear camera and Face ID. The lenses differ on which they do.
