Trump's Iran Withdrawal Has Oil Shippers in Limbo Over Insurance

Donald Trump Iran nuclear deal

Donald Trump Iran nuclear deal

In a lengthy government statement on Friday, the Iranian government warned that it would take "whatever reciprocal measures it deems expedient" if it is not fully compensated for the US withdrawal from the nuclear agreement as provided for in the accord.

Iran's foreign minister will embark on a diplomatic tour to try to salvage the nuclear deal amid high tensions following the USA withdrawal and global fears over reports of unprecedented clashes with Israel in Syria.

European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini says the EU is determined to make sure the Iran nuclear agreement is respected despite U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to pull out.

Iran reacted furiously to Trump's decision, with lawmakers burning a USA flag and chanting "Death to America" in the Iranian parliament.

Other signatories to the Iran deal - including Tehran, China and European powers - have vowed to press ahead with the agreement's implementation. "Should U.S. reinstate its extra-territorial sanctions, that may have significant adverse impact on the ability for non-U.S. persons to trade with Iran and Iranian interests", the Swedish Club said. "Iranians now experience the disturbing prospect of crippling inflation, budget cuts, delayed payments and shortages of basic goods, especially imported medication upon which many lives depend". The Treasury Department said in a statement Thursday it took joint action with the United Arab Emirates against nine Iranian individuals and entities involved in the network, and threatened sanctions against any other companies that help those nine. The administration does not have a plan for how to make the sanctions, which they valued more than the agreement and their relations with Europe, work. We may soon see that it is not Iran that is isolated from the world - it is the United States.

While Trump's move on Tuesday ratcheted up regional tensions and widened a rift with USA allies in Europe, no one is predicting an American invasion of Iran.

Shooting reported at California high school, sheriff says
The Los Angeles County sheriff's department said on Twitter Friday morning that the school has been searched and cleared. Meanwhile Antelope Valley Hospital was told several people were dead and as many as 25 students were injured, said Dr.

Khamenei on May 9 said that USA actions show it cannot be trusted to honor agreements, and he also questioned whether US allies in Europe can be trusted either. And Iranian mullahs and their jackboots in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, all flush with American cash. They hobbled Iran's economy, for instance, and it has not recovered, despite the regime receiving much of the deal's financial benefit upfront.

On Friday the Kremlin said Russian President Vladimir Putin had spoken with Germany's Angela Merkel and Turkey's Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a bid to keep the Iran nuclear deal alive.

"Obviously, we will do everything to defend our companies, as Europeans, and we will do it with the U.S. administration", a presidential adviser says.

Trump said a deal with Iran would have to include not just deeper restrictions on its nuclear program, but on its ballistic missiles and support for militant groups across the Middle East.

Trump's declaration only requires American banks and companies to stop trading with Iran within 180 days, but the US may also apply so-called secondary sanctions against foreign companies that trade with Iran. However, proponents of the deal have said those time limits were meant to encourage more discussion with Iran in the future. Israel responded on Thursday with strikes on Iranian targets across Syria that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman claims destroyed "nearly all" of Iran's military supplies in the country.
