Florida authorities say the woman was beaten and held captive for two days at gunpoint by her partner before escaping when she convinced him to bring their dog to an animal hospital on Friday.

She passed a note to staff members at the hospital, which read, "Call the cops". Finally, the woman managed to convince Floyd she needed to take their dog to the veterinarian, though he only did so while accompanying her with a gun, sheriffs said. DeLand police responded first, detaining the boyfriend, Jeremy Floyd, 39, and recovering his gun. She told police she tried to get the gun away from him and during the struggle the weapon went off twice. "Please don't let him know!" Floyd is also a convicted felon.

Deputies arrested Floyd, a convicted felon, after the visibly injured girlfriend, Carolyn Reichle stated Floyd repeatedly battered her on Wednesday night, threatened her at gunpoint, and physically prevented her from leaving their home.

Police located two bullet holes in drywall inside the home.

Floyd beat Reichle so badly that she spent all of Thursday laid up in bed with a head injury, according to authorities.

The EU had warned in April that it would consider further sanctions against Venezuela of its own if the elections were not fair. Mauricio Macri and the Lima Group have both rejected the legitimacy of the recent elections in Venezuela.

Deputies brought Reichle to an area hospital, where she was treated for a head injury, a black eye, and bruises up and down her arms.

The member of staff called police with officers arriving to arrest Jeremy Floyd, 39, at the hospital, Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

He's being held without bail in Volusia County Branch Jail on a slew of charges, including domestic violence, aggravated assault with a firearm, and false imprisonment.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Floyd is a convicted felon.
