Safari's new anti-tracking tech will work against Facebook's use of the Like buttons and the comment boxes to track its users. These buttons make it easy to share web content, but they also let social networks collect user data-something Apple has been cracking down on in recent years. This will ensure that Share, Like buttons and comment widgets on web pages can not be used to track a user without their permission. "And so this year, we are shutting that down".

Toward the tail end of a more than two-hour Apple presentation to software developers, the company announced changes to its Safari web browsers that - assuming they remain unchanged and function as Apple sketched out - seem set to seriously hamper Facebook's contentious data-harvesting practices, and those of many other internet companies that count on following people as they roam around the web.

But, if it proves to be popular, the possibility of Google adopting a similar feature for Chrome, both on desktop operating systems and its Android mobile operating system, would increase the pressure on Facebook to react. Apple's software chief Craig Federighi said that Facebook keeps watch over people in ways they might not be aware of.

Federighi did not name Facebook during his speech, but he did use the social media giant as an example when he shared a screenshot of the new Safari feature in action. In addition, Apple says when your browser is searching the web, they've made it more hard for, say, a company like Facebook to track where you go, and that is definitely a way that Facebook collects information.

Canada to impose tariff 'countermeasures' on US
According to a Reuters report , Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso called the us tariff actions "deeply deplorable". Goods affected will include some American steel, as well as consumer products such as yoghurt, whiskey and coffee.

What Apple is doing, says tech analyst Patrick Moorhead, "is reminding you that you're being tracked", he says.

The company is also taking they spend with particular apps and to fight back against the tactics Facebook and other companies use to repeatedly lure them back into their services. Along with added options for curbing smartphone addiction and a walkie-talkie function, Apple unveiled some much-needed privacy features on the Mac. And in demonstrating App Limits, the app that got cut off was Instagram, which Facebook owns.

Over the a year ago, Cook has repeatedly criticized Facebook for the amount of data it collects on its users and what it does with that information. This applies even if a user does not have a Facebook account or are logged out of their Facebook account from the Safari browser. Cook's: "I wouldn't be in that situation". Apple to take steps to give users more control over their devices and apps.
