U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are due to hold their historic meeting in Singapore on Tuesday next week.

Mr Putin said during an interview with Austrian public broadcaster ORF overnight that the denuclearisation of the North shouldn't be "one-way road".

But a flurry of diplomacy across two continents got the meeting back on track, and Trump announced Friday that he would attend as initially planned.

"We thank our great Singaporean hosts for their hospitality", White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders wrote on Twitter.

Schumer expressed hope that next week's high-level summit with North Korea would be successful, adding that Trump had to secure a good deal.

Russian President Vladimir Putin believes that for the settlement on the Korean Peninsula all the interested countries should develop guarantees of North Korea's security.

But, in testament to the president's volatile temperament, Trump is also prepared to walk out of the summit room in the first few minutes if it's not progressing to his liking, the report said. "But I think you're going to have a very positive result in the end". "It is going to be a process".

He says the tough line forced the North Korean leader to soften his stance.

Rodman also participated on Trump's television program Celebrity Apprentice, giving him a unique relationship with both the president and the communist dictator.

To make matters worse, Trump's security adviser, John Bolton, suggested that North Korea follow the denuclearization model of Libya.
