Children separated from parents at US border sob, wail desperately

Melania Trump ‘hates’ separating migrant kids from parents

President Donald Trump has justified the forceful separation of over 2,000 children from their parents in ongoing crackdown on illegal immigrants across the United States.

But Trump blamed Democrats for not taking action on immigration.

There is bipartisan outrage over a Trump administration policy that is separating migrant children from their parents at the U.S. -Mexico border.

Mrs. Trump "believes we need to be a country that follows all laws, but also a country that governs with heart", Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman for Mrs. Trump, said Sunday.

People across the USA have been organizing rallies against Trump's policies after a series of news pieces reported on the inhumane treatments of immigrants and the separation of families, intensifying political pressure on the government, sparking national outrage, and prompting Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein, the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, to call for ending the policy saying such regulations "punish children for their parents' actions".

McCain tweeted Monday night that the administration has the power to rescind this policy and "should do so now".

Trump on Tuesday defended the policy, saying "we've got to stop separation of the families", but says: "we can't let people pour in". Crime in Germany is way up.

To combat worries that he looks "soft" on immigration, Trump unleashed a series of tweets in which he played up the dangers posed by the high-profile MS-13 gangs, which make up a minuscule percentage of those who have crossed the border. "Don't wait until after the election because you are going to lose!"

Democrats and some in Mr Trump's own Republican Party have admonished the administration for dividing almost 2,000 children from their parents between mid-April and the end of May. "Period.", while at the same time arguing that the policy of holding migrant children was done for their own safety.

2018 primary election results tonight: Virginia, South Carolina, Maine, Nevada, North Dakota
In the Democratic primary, Horsford defeated six other candidates for the nomination after entering the race in late January. The victor of the Democratic race is expected to face Republican state Attorney General Adam Laxalt in November.

"I don't want children taken away from parents", he told a gathering of small business owners, before adding: "When you prosecute the parents for coming in illegally, which should happen, you have to take the children away".

Democrat Representative Adam Schiff said that the administration is "using the grief, the tears, the pain of these kids as mortar to build our wall".

As Maryland Democrats denounced the practice of detaining children and parents separately, Harris criticized an Obama administration immigration policy and said he was pushing for more border resources. The bill would also call for parents and children to be detained together as they await a decision, unless there's "aggravated criminal conduct or threat of harm to children".

The fate of that bill is unclear, as the White House has sent mixed messages on whether Mr Trump supports it or an alternative, more conservative immigration measure also expected to receive a vote.

"We can keep the families together while these cases are pending", he said.

One utterly distressed Salvadoran girl, which ProPublica said was all of six, can be heard begging authorities to call her aunt.

Legislative affairs chief Marc Short: "The policy is incredibly complicated and it is one we need to do a better job of communicating".

Some GOP senators have said that Trump could easily reverse the policy without congressional approval.
