Colombia sent Poland packing from the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 victory in a Group H match at the Kazan Arena on Sunday.

The Juventus winger's trickery would eventually pay dividends, but it was Falcao - who has dreamed all his life of scoring a World Cup goal - who turned on the style, dancing through the Polish defence to win the corner that led to Colombia's opener.

Colombia, for the part played 87 minutes in their opening match with 10 men after Carlos Sanchez was shown the second-fastest World Cup red card in history.

Los Cafeteros scored their opening goal through Yerry Mina in the 43rd minute after the Barcelona defender found the back of the net with his head following a delightful ball into the area from James Rodriguez.

James Rodriguez celebrated being back in the starting line up by setting up Yerry Mina to give Colombia the lead at the break.

Poland boarded the plane to Russian Federation on the back of a strong qualifying campaign that saw them finish at the summit of their qualifying group.

Cuadrado teased and frustrated the Polish defence in a positive start to the second half, and after Colombia 'keeper David Ospina bravely denied Robert Lewandowski when he latched on to a unsafe long ball, Colombia turned up the heat.

"But we're not going to go insane, mentally we're in a good place but we need to continue to improve because we are ambitious and we want to continue in this World Cup as we hoped".

It's a reminder both of Colombia's impressive run in Brazil, with Los Cafeteros nearly knocking out the hosts in the quarterfinal, and Rodriguez's importance to the Colombian national team.

Just five minutes later the Colombians put the final nail into Poland's coffin with a scintillating move. The lively Quintero threaded a defence-splitting pass to Falcao, who rolled back the years with a delightful low finish with the outside of his right boot.

Rodriguez bagged two assists on Sunday night but his pass to find Cuadrado for the third goal was truly a piece of artistry.

Colombia is still alive ahead of its final match against Senegal and can still win the group, while Poland can only hurt Japan's chances of advancement.

Poland is coming off a 2-1 defeat to a Senegal side making its second World Cup appearance ever.

Poland played well for 15 minutes but then faded.
