"I've got good memories of my childhood supporting West Ham, watching them at Upton Park".

"It feels good, it feels special", said Wilshere on the West Ham website.

"I think I must have been about six or seven, my whole family were West Ham fans, I was a West Ham fan, still have a soft spot for them of course". He will join up with Pellegrini's squad for their pre-season training camp in Switzerland.

The Hammers have already signed Jack Wilshere and Ryan Fredericks on free transfers this summer, plus spent £29m on Issa Diop and Lukasz Fabianski.

Wilshere's contract expired last month.

That evenness is why France is the team to beat in the mind of Jeffrey Marcus, publisher of the World Cup newsletter "The Banter". The players gave everything and were pushing until the last second to get back in the game.

West Ham had hoped to sign Anderson for around £35 million but have had to increase their offer.

"At 26, he still has many years of football in front of him, and I believe he will be a great asset for us".

He becomes the latest recruit in what looks set to be a significant summer of investment for West Ham and new manager Manuel Pellegrini. "Jack is a player with vast experience and quality at the highest level, having played all of his career in the Premier League". Wilshere's ten years at Arsenal only yielded in him making 125 appearances for the team and 197 overall in all competitions, owing to plenty of fitness and injury related problems.

Wilshere, who has 34 senior caps and two goals, was unable to win a place in England's World Cup squad.

Manuel Pellegrini seems intent to bolster West Ham's attack this summer with Anderson looking set to follow Borussia Dortmund's Andriy Yarmolenko to the London Stadium, after the Hammers agreed a fee of £17.5m for the Ukraine global earlier this week.
