UK police claim poison attack suspects were Russian

Recall, Rowley along with his friend don Sturgess was in the hospital June 30 with symptoms of poisoning with nerve substance, which the authorities believe are a novice.

Police believe that Charlie Rowley and his partner Dawn Strugess collapsed at a house in Amesbury in Wiltshire on 30 June after they came into contact with a bottle containing the nerve agent.

Ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia collapsed in the southwestern English city of Salisbury on March 4 after being exposed to the nerve agent Novichok.

"He definitely said to me that they found this bottle of something and Dawn sprayed it on her wrists and that he picked it up and broke it somehow - and that's how he got it on his hands", Rowley told Sky News.

John Glen, the Conservative MP for Salisbury, said he hoped the continuing police investigation would not only lead to the perpetrators of the attack being brought to justice, but also reassure residents who have had to endure two chemical weapon attacks on their doorstep.

"They (the investigators) are sure they (the suspects) are Russian". You never hear of someone being killed by Novichok so I thought it was important for people to remember her.

Ms Sturgess later died on 8 July and a murder inquiry has been launched.

Counter-terror cops are closing in on identifying the suspects, thought to be from Mr Skripal's former employers, Russia's military intelligence service the GRU - the agency that Mr Skripal served in for about 15 years. He was freed in a spy swap in 2010 and settled in the UK.

Neil Basu, the Met Police's assistant commissioner for specialist operations, said earlier this month his officers were working on the theory that Sturgess and Rowley had found a container housing the substance.

On Wednesday, police started a search of the Queen Elizabeth Gardens in Salisbury. Claiming that the substance used in the attack had been a Novichok-class nerve agent developed in the Soviet Union, London rushed to accuse Russian Federation of being involved in the incident.

"I was so thankful when they told me he had regained consciousness and was getting better and to talk to him on the phone at the hospital was such a relief", Matthew said.

"As part of the care we gave to Charlie, and the other victims of this nerve agent, we decontaminated them".
