Emery respects Ozil's Germany choice, says Arsenal is his 'home'

Ozil, who has Turkish roots, had been under fire since posing for a controversial photograph with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in May which sparked questions about his loyalty to Germany's squad ahead of the tournament in Russian Federation.

"Mesut has the respect of every player here", said Emery, who was appointed as Arsene Wenger's successor in May. "We're a family and we'll offer him our full support".

Unai Emery said in the past that he was going to rejuvenate Mesut Ozil in the upcoming season as he hopes that the German global will be at his best in his first season because he hopes that it could be a success.

"We are expecting good matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid".

Many politicians and journalists in Germany questioned Ozil's loyalty to his country after photographs emerged of Ozil, a third generation immigrant with a Turkish heritage, posing alongside Erdogan. "They are great teams with great players, it's a test for us to get ready for the new season, so it's something to look forward to".

Trump planning emergency aid to farmers affected by tariffs
President Trump's tariff threats against China, Canada, Mexico and the European Union prompted immediate threats of retaliation. The administration has slapped tariffs on $34 billion in Chinese goods and China retaliated with duties on soybeans and pork.

Asked about Ozil's decision to retire from Germany duties, Emery responded: 'He thinks what is best for him, he explained his decision and here we need to help him.

Germany´s football federation swiftly denied the allegation of racism, while Erdogan called Ozil to praise his decision - which follows a resurgence of the German far right. Ozil is, however, in line to face PSG on Saturday.

"It´s something which is unfortunate for him but we will try to do everything so that he feels good, that he trains well so he feels good for the season, because he´s one of the key players".

"He arrived on Sunday to travel and I prefer to give him the normality in the team and for him to feel good with us", said the Spanish coach, who is backing Ozil to respond brightly to any negative fallout.
