The Australian and New Zealand firefighters who arrived in the USA last weekend to help fight the wildfires spreading throughout the country have been deployed to blazes in Northern California and OR, the National Interagency Fire Center said Monday.

Both areas remained under a "red flag warning" issued by the National Weather Service for strong winds, low relative humidity and temperatures topping 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 degrees Celsius), all conditions that can drive the growth of wildfires.

The Mendocino Complex is now considered the sixth-largest wildfire in California history.

Northern California is grappling with one of the largest wildfires in the history of California.

Fire officials have said that 95 percent of all wildfires are caused by humans, from camp fires left unattended to careless smoking, to sparks from vehicles and improperly maintained power lines. The southern perimeter of the River Fire has been contained and controlled for several days.

More than 14,000 firefighters are battling over a dozen major blazes throughout California, state Department of Forestry and Fire Protection spokesman Scott McLean said.

Many residents in Ukiah reported seeing flames licking over the top of Cow Mountain late Saturday night, and that appears to have been from a fire intentionally set by firefighters to create a barrier around the wildfire by taking away nearby fuel.

West Texas Intermediate ( WTI) crude futures were at $68.70 per barrel at 0847 GMT, down 26 cents from their last settlement. A lot of this is the risk premium priced in for Iran and when do we start seeing an impact on supply there", Patterson said.

The Ferguson Fire, which has claimed the lives of two firefighters, has burned over 91,000 acres, while the Cranston Fire has burned over 13,000 acres.

At the southeastern end of the fire, where it began, the area has been burnt out and mopped up, and no fire threat remains, which allowed for the opening of Hwy. 20.

'Battling these relentless fires requires a Herculean effort, ' the governor wrote in the request Friday. But officials say it threatens 11,300 buildings and some new evacuations were ordered over the weekend as the flames spread.

As for the northern section of the fire, Blankenheim said it "continues to progress toward Lake Pillsbury, and we're building line on Middle Mountain Road and working toward the Eel River, trying to cut it off before it gets to the community of Lake Pillsbury". And parts of Colusa, Lake, and Mendocino counties have been evacuated.

At the same time, firefighters have pulled back in the uninhabited national forests to the north, where they have cut fire lines and are employing indirect methods.

As of this morning, the Ranch Fire had grown to 225,001 acres with 21% containment. However, it is not so according to the water and wildlife experts.

The last time active-duty military personnel were mobilized was in September 2017, when 200 soldiers from JBLM were mobilized to help battle the North Umpqua Complex wildfires in OR for 30 days, NIFC said.

The size of the fire has surpassed that of last year's Thomas Fire, which burned 281,893 acres in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties when it destroyed more than 1,000 structures.
