The woman seen in a disturbing video ringing a stranger's doorbell in Montgomery County has been identified and deputies say she is the victim of domestic violence.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office posted a video on Facebook of the woman seeking help in identifying her.

Investigators determined that his girlfriend was the barefoot young woman seen in a nearby resident's security video ringing the doorbell early on Friday while wearing a T-shirt and wrist restraints.

Police told reporters that the female's boyfriend who she had been living with, had shot himself in the head, at a street adjacent to where the woman had been caught on film.

The house was in Sunrise Ranch, the same neighborhood as the one whose doorbell the woman had tried to ring.

He also said she is not linked to any missing persons cases. "A man was found deceased inside the home", he continued.

The man, identified as 49-year-old Dennis Ray Collins, left a suicide note behind, officials said.

When deputies arrived, they found the man's body inside the home. At about 3:30AM, someone rang the doorbell at a number of homes, but disappeared by the time they answered the door.

Spencer said the woman in the video is upset and embarrassed that the situation has come to this conclusion and remains in shock at the events that have transpired.

Officer Scott Spencer said: "When deputies arrived at the scene they were unable to get an answer at the door and at that time forced entry".

"We were dead asleep in our beds".

"On August 29th 2018 at about 11 a.m. the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received a welfare check call in the 18400 block of Sunrise Pines in the Sunrise Ranch subdivision". He then saw the images when he checked his doorbell security camera.

Police did not say how the man's death may be connected to the video of his distressed girlfriend, and did not say if the man was the perpetrator in the "family violence" the woman reportedly suffered.
