Upset Ice Cube fan opens fire shot by police as panic engulfs concert venue

The racetrack, at Del Mar Fairgrounds, is located about 21 miles north of downtown San Diego along the Pacific coast.

It has been reported by several local news outlets that a sheriff's deputy was shot but no civilians were injured in the incident.

When deputies responded to the scene just before 7 p.m., Elizarraras allegedly pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots into the air in a crowded area. Sheriffs then tased the suspect and opened fire when that did not stop him.

Ice Cube tweeted at his fans, "come see ya homie Cube... but leave the strap at home". The man who was shot was taken to the hospital by ambulance; his condition was not known.

Video provided by Fox San Diego showed deputies struggling with a man in a white shirt on the ground.

Several Twitter users shared clips of television coverage of the race by horse racing network TVG, in which the sound of gunfire is audible and an announcer is heard shouting, "There is gunfire at the track".

The sold-out show, drawing about 18,000 people, was part of the 2018 Del Mar Summer Concert Series. "In light of the circumstances that unfolded involving one individual with a gun, we take consolation in the fact that no patrons, officers or security personnel were injured in the incident", the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club said in a statement.

Del Mar Racetrack, where the Ice Cube concert is being held tweeted: "The situation has been contained".

We will continue to fully cooperate with the Sherriff's Department in their investigation and will refer all questions concerning the incident to them.
