Syrian and Russian warplanes launched dozens of airstrikes on Syria's northern province of Idlib on Saturday, a monitoring group said, intensifying pressure on the country's last rebel stronghold after crisis talks yielded no progress.

More than 30,000 people have fled their homes in northwest Syria since the army and allied forces resumed bombardment last week, the United Nations humanitarian affairs office (OCHA) said on Monday.

He said the strikes targeted positions of both rebel groups and the rival Hayat Tahrir Al Sham alliance, led by Al Qaeda's former Syrian affiliate and comprised mostly of hardline Islamist groups.

At a three-way summit between Russia, Iran and Turkey on Friday, President Vladimir Putin rejected Erdogan's call for a truce in Idlib, home to about 3 million civilians.

Trump himself warned early last week that an attack by Assad on Idlib would make the U.S.

Abu al-Baraa al-Hamawi, a rebel leader in northern Hama, said about 95 percent of people had left a number of villages in northern and western Hama province and in southern Idlib province in the last three days due to intensive air strikes.

The administration is "trying to send a clear warning" to the Assad regime, said Melissa Dalton, a senior fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. That preserves some leverage for the U.S.in the face of Russian Federation and Iran's presence in Syria.

Meanwhile, Turkey, which already hosts three million Syrian refugees, is keen to prevent an assault that would see hundreds of thousands more mass along its border.

"We're deeply concerned about this recent escalation of violence, which has resulted in the displacement of over 30,000 in the area".

In Arizona, the Redskins used a 21-point second quarter to seize control of a game that they would end up winning, 24-6. Rodgers threw three touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Randall Cobb with 2:13 left in the game.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Monday's airstrikes on Idlib and Hama provinces forced some people to flee their homes.

"One of the major results of the Teheran summit is that its participants unanimously recognized the efficiency and topicality of the Astana format", he said.

The leaders of regime allies Russian Federation and Iran met with the president of rebel backer Turkey in Tehran on Friday, but failed to reach an agreement to avoid a military assault.

He went on to explain that in the event of Erdogan "selling Idlib", militants will use the tunnel to cross into Turkey, to potentially carry out attacks against civilians and security forces.

We want to tell you: if you sell Idlib or other opposition-held areas, we're going to buy Reyhanli from you.

More than 3 million people live in the area, almost half of them already displaced from fighting elsewhere in Syria.

In an op-ed published in the Wall Street Journal on Monday, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called on the global community to take action and said that an offensive on Idlib province would result in "serious humanitarian risks for Turkey, the rest of Europe and beyond".

The West has warned Assad that his regime would face serious consequences if he used chemical weapons in Idlib.

Syria has been ravaged since 2011 by a complex civil war, implicating many foreign powers, that has claimed more than 350,000 lives to date.
