Mr Trump also tweeted, falsely, that GDP growth had surpassed the unemployment rate "for the first time in over 100 years".

Gross domestic product increased at a 4.2 annualized rate in the second quarter of 2018, and the unemployment rate was 3.9 percent in April, 3.8 percent in May and 4.0 percent in June.

In a rare breaking of ranks, Fox Business host, Charles Gasparino, called out President Donald Trump on Tuesday, writing on Twitter, "when was the last time [Donald Trump] said something that wasn't filled with utter bull s**t?"

While the numbers cited by Trump are true, the truth in how long it has been since that last occurred sees Trump well short, with the GDP growth rate outstripping the unemployment rate most recently in the first quarter of 2006. Of course, that statement was nonsense - the GDP has been higher than the unemployment rate on 185 occasions since 1948, as noted by the New York Times.

"President Trump is lying, even about good news", Lemon said.

"What is true is that it's the highest in 10 years, and at some point somebody probably conveyed it to him adding a zero to that, and they shouldn't have done that", Hassett said.

Brazil far-right candidate Bolsonaro stabbed, has liver injury
Supporters of Bolsonaro then descended on the assailant, beating him before police were able to take the man into custody. In many ways, the incident feeds Bolsonaro's narrative that Brazil is in chaos and needs a strong hand to steady it.

"It was 100% my fault and I apologized immediately", Hassett said, hand over his heart. Trump went on to argue, "I guess I have a magic wand, 4.2%, and we will do MUCH better than this!"

"President Trump would need a magic wand to get to 4% GDP", stated President Obama. "We have just begun", Trump tweeted.

"I'm glad it's continued, but when you hear about this economic miracle that's been going on, when the job numbers come out, monthly job numbers, and, suddenly, Republicans are saying, 'it's a miracle.' I have to kind of remind them, actually, those job numbers are the same as they were in 2015 and 2016", he said during a speech in IL.

"Are you kidding?" asked an incredulous Pirro.

Hassett's press briefing was largely supportive of Trump's record on the economy, and the comments about the erroneous Twitter post came in response to a question from a reporter.
