SpaceX books private passenger flight around the Moon

SpaceX announced signing up the first private moon traveler on Friday.

Just days after conducting another successful launch of one of its Falcon 9 rockets, SpaceX has announced that it's CEO and Lead Designerr, Elon Musk, will be making an announcement regarding the first private passengers who will ride the company's Big Falcon Rocket (BFR) to a destination only 24 others have traveled to.

The company said the programme is an important step towards making recreational space travel a reality for people. The space exploration startup tweeted this morning that it had signed its first passenger up for a trip in the company's BFR rocket.

The person's identity will be revealed on September 17, SpaceX. said in a tweet. When asked if Musk would be the person aboard the flight, he responded simply by posting an emoji of a Japanese flag.

SpaceX has always been public about their dream of sending private citizens to space.

SpaceX spokespeople told the Wall Street Journal that the mission as still going to happen but remained tight-lipped about more details. But Musk has broad ambitions for SpaceX and the BFR.
