Woman Accusing Kavanaugh of Sexual Misconduct Comes Forward

Mr Kavanaugh's nomination has sharply divided an already closely split Senate, with most Democrats opposing him and most Republicans supporting him.

"I categorically and unequivocally deny this allegation".

In response to the Post story, the White House sent the same statement to press outlets including the Guardian.

Following the reveal of Ford's letter, a spokesperson for Judiciary Committee Chair Charles Grassley - the Republican senator who set the timeline for Kavanaugh's confirmation - told The New York Times that Grassley has no plans to delay Kavanaugh's confirmation vote, which is set to take place this Thursday. While election forecasters largely predict that Republicans will retain control of the Senate, they also leave open the slim possibility that Democrats could flip the upper chamber. The letter was circulated by Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee.

In late July, Ford sent a letter through Democrat Ann Eshoo's office to Senator Dianne Feinstein of California, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, about the reported attack.

"It raises a lot of questions about Democrats' tactics and motives to bring this to the rest of the committee's attention only now", the statement said. Watching is wife Ashley, with daughters Margaret, second from left, and Eliza.

A lawyer who's close to the White House told Politico the president is not considering withdrawing Kavanaugh's nomination.

Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer said the Judiciary Committee "must postpone the vote until, at a very minimum, these serious and credible allegations are thoroughly investigated".

Shortly after the WaPo report went public, Democratic Senators called for the vote on Kavanaugh to be delayed.

Jurgen Klopp Has A Pop At Gary Neville Over Champions League Claim
He feels that the club's summer signings will have been sold on the idea of turning out for Liverpool in the Champions League . "We are disappointed because we're going to miss him for this game and possibly Inter Milan but it is not a big issue".

Collins and Murkowski have not said how they will vote.

Ford alleged during a summer in the early 1980s, when she was in her late teens, Kavanaugh and another person drunkenly "corralled her into a bedroom during a gathering of teenagers" in the suburbs of Maryland.

On Sunday, the Washington Post published Christine Blasey Ford's account of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh allegedly sexually assaulting her while both were still teens.

Ford was able to escape the assault when a classmate of Kavanaugh's, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them. Ford then emerged to tell the Washington Post she was the accuser, saying she was afraid her story would get twisted by others.

She told the Post: "Now I feel like my civic responsibility is outweighing my anguish and terror about retaliation".

It's uncanny how closely the Democrats are following the Anita Hill playbook as they try to "Anita" Brett Kavanaugh, looking to prevent his confirmation as a Supreme Court Justice. There were four boys at the party, she said, but only two were in the room.

Ford said she remembers that it was in Montgomery County, not far from the country club, and that no parents were home at the time.

Kavanaugh, 53 and a federal appeals judge in Washington, on Sunday repeated an earlier denial of Ford's allegation. The test determined that Ford was being truthful when she said a statement summarizing her allegations, according to the Post. Speaking last Wednesday at the George Washington University Law School, a day before Feinstein disclosed the letter, Ginsburg called the Kavanaugh hearings "a highly partisan show".

"She came forward to tell her representatives about a traumatic event that occurred to her that the nominee committed, she believes it bares on his character but she has not taken a position that he should not be confirmed".
