Manchester United will be looking to kick-off their Champions League campaign with a positive result when they take on Young Boys in Switzerland tonight.

But the Swiss champions' artificial pitch will take some getting used to, and was the reason why United left Antonio Valencia behind.

Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are still trying to convince the manager of their worth, leaving Luke Shaw, Jesse Lingard, David de Gea and Romelu Lukaku as the only players able to boast anything remotely close to consistent form.

He added: "I don't want to use the pitch, especially before the match, as a possible excuse for a not very good performance".

"We are in Switzerland, they have the best tennis player and I'm pretty sure the big man is not happy on certain surfaces, he has a favourite surface but he has to play". He has a favourite surface but he has to win on the surfaces he is not in love with.

Earlier, had reported how Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly ready to submit £100 million offer to Juventus for the possibility of luring Paulo Dybala to Old Trafford.

Russia & Turkey agree to 'demilitarised zone' in Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin (R) meets with his Turkish counterpart Tayyip Erdogan in Sochi, Russia September 17, 2018. Troops from Russian Federation , an ally of Syria's government, and Turkey, which backs the rebels, will patrol the zone.

Striker Marcus Rashford and midfielder Nemanja Matic are expected to be handed starting roles against the Switzerland side.

"It is premature to be speaking about our chances when we didn't even play the first match", Mourinho told a news conference on Tuesday. "They have shaped football at the highest level in recent years".

Mourinho has been impressed with Lukaku's leadership qualities and the Belgian's been displaying that in the last fortnight by taking extra one-on-one sessions with Rashford after full training has ended.

Young Boys will make history on Wednesday night when they compete in the Champions League group stages for the first time.

"Right now, learning the game off the left hand side is ideal with Romelu Lukaku as the focal point and just playing off him suits Rashford". I said what I had to say last week in Geneva, at a UEFA meeting that we had.

"Try to be a little bit happy with the ones that are playing and not to be greedy with the ones that are not playing".
