The Knicks have promised not to repeat their history’s mistakes. Would trading for Jimmy Butler be another broken vow

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star shooting guard Jimmy Butler formally requested a trade Wednesday - and that set off a series of events that eventually involved former National Basketball Association player Stephen Jackson, Minnesota small forward Andrew Wiggins and Andrew's brother Nick Wiggins. He has provided a list of one to three teams with which he would be open to signing a long-term deal, sources said.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau reportedly visited Butler Tuesday in Los Angeles amid multiple reports that circulated in the last week saying Butler was contemplating his future in the Twin Cities. However, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic Minnesota, Thibodeau has been resistant to the idea of trading Butler.

Apparently, the meeting did not go well. Those teams would each have the cap space to give Butler a maximum contract extension come next summer.

Butler has been unhappy with the Timberwolves since being traded from the Bulls in June 2017, leading to a breaking point with training camp beginning next week. In response to the news, Nick Wiggins, the brother of Minnesota swingman Andrew Wiggins, seemed to celebrate.

'Chelsea is his home' - Sarri would welcome Terry on coaching staff
Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has spoken about the possibility of one the Blues legends returning to the club. It'll be interesting to see how we cope at a packed Stamford Bridge.

The Clippers have the necessary assets to present the Timberwolves with arguably the best trade offer for Butler.

It's believed that those three teams are the Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks, and Los Angeles Clippers. He seconded Charania's earlier claim that those teams would be able to re-sign Butler as a free agent in July.

The Cavs theoretically couldn't trade a first-round that would help Thibodeau's team next season either, as they only keep their first-round pick next year if they have one of the worst ten win-loss records in the league. Karl-Anthony Towns called #fakenews on sleuthing that suggested he and Jimmy Butler were involved with the same woman.
