Mitch McConnell Predicts 'Kavanaugh Will Be on the United States Supreme Court'

President Trump has ended what had been a notably restrained response to the accusation by Christine Blasey Ford that Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her more than 30 years ago. He defended Kavanaugh during the Las Vegas rally but insisted: 'I'm not saying anything about anybody else'.

The tweets came as a Republican-dominated U.S. Senate committee struggled with Kavanaugh's nomination.

The Senate Judiciary Committee had delayed a vote on Kavanaugh's confirmation after Ford's allegations emerged last week.

The "Morning Joe" co-host said the California professor seemed to be anxious that Kavanaugh, a federal judge and Supreme Court nominee, may have preyed on other girls or women.

Trumps comments follow an unusual period of silence in which even his aides were reportedly shocked at how mild the president's statements on Ford had been.

"I ask that she bring those filings forward so that we can learn date, time, and place!" he added.

US President Donald Trump says he will not order the FBI to investigate claims of sexual assault made against his Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh.

Now, Ford says that she may indeed testify, but not on Monday. Ford has demanded that the hearing be scheduled for Thursday, which the source said is still among the things under negotiation.

On Friday, it remained unclear how the hearing would proceed on Kavanaugh.

Hunt for shark after two attacks
Canberra , Sep 20 (IANS) An Australian woman was in a critical condition on Thursday after being attacked by a shark. A girl has sustained serious injuries after being bitten on the leg by a shark at Cid Harbour after midday today.

Earlier on Thursday, committee Republicans chose to hire an outside counsel to lead their questioning of Ford, rather than the committee members themselves, according to a Republican Senate official familiar with the decision.

Presidential counselor Kellyanne Conway says the #MeToo movement against sexual misconduct should not be conflated with the assault allegation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and his denial. The president said he trusts the Senate to do its job. McConnell responded affirmatively when asked if he had confidence that Kavanaugh would be confirmed, telling CNN, "Oh yeah".

According to reports Thursday, the Republicans are considering hiring a female outside litigator to handle the questioning, which would be televised nationally. Susan Collins, a key Republican swing vote. Numerous women, regardless of their politics, expressed personal empathy for Ford as she steps into a national firestorm.

Can the Senate Judiciary Committee enlist the FBI to investigate the claims of sexual assault brought by an accuser against Judge Brett Kavanaugh, nominee to the Supreme Court?

Grassley said in a tweet Thursday that committee investigators have been following up on the leads from Ford's allegations and from news stories. "I think everything's going to be just fine".

Ford alleges that in 1982, 17-year-old Kavanaugh and a friend pulled Ford into a room during a high school party in suburban Maryland, forced her onto a bed, and groped her over her clothing before she was able to escape. Kavanaugh has repeatedly denied the allegations.

But wait. If Mark Judge's letter to the Judiciary Committee is sufficient to make its Republican members accept the contents of the letter at face value, why don't they do the same for the letter Dr Ford sent to ranking Committee member Diane Feinstein?

A person familiar with the call said Ford could not testify until next Thursday. Then when a news report surfaced about the story, Feinstein said she made a decision to go public.

Trump's tweets came as lawyers for Ford continued negotiations with Republicans about conditions under which she might testify next week in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
