Tiger Woods' five-year, 1,876 day title drought has come to an end in style, taking out the PGA Tour Championship in Atlanta, Georgia this morning.

So far, it's been a great day for Woods.

"It was just a grind out there", Woods added.

"Certainly, this is going to be up there as one of my better accomplishments I've had [if I win]", Woods told NBC.

Horschel shot four-under 66 to finish alone in second place, while Hideki Matsuyama and Rickie Fowler each shot the low rounds of Sunday's play with 65.

Dustin Johnson shot a 3-under 67 Sunday to finish third at 7 under.

Woods admitted to feeling emotional walking up the 18th hole, with a throng of spectators following him up the fairway.

It was the archetype for a Tiger Woods victory. It was a scene that Woods admitted he's never seen before. The gallery roared at each par as Woods protected his lead.

The two adults were a co-worker at the facility and the father of one of the infants, the officer said. A sixth person was found in the basement of the day care center in the Flushing neighborhood.

"I had a hard time not crying coming up that last hole."

Woods was able to perfectly combine the skill and acumen of a 14-time major champion with the hustle of someone playing for his card on the Web.com Tour.

He almost won the FedEx Cup, too, until Justin Rose survived a late meltdown with a birdie on the final hole to tie for fourth place and secure the overall FedEx Cup and its prize of $10m (£7.6m). He left the competition feeling hopeless as he built a five-shot lead early and hung on to win the Tour Championship.

If you're counting at home, that is 1,876 days in between wins. It is his first PGA Tour win since the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.

Woods played true to history in claiming this win.

The lingering question of "Will Tiger ever win again?" has been resolved.

Woods' next stop will be next weekend's Ryder Cup.
