Jeff Flake Pledges to Consider FBI Review Before Final Kavanaugh Vote

Brett Kavanaugh rejected some questions about his drinking during his testimony to the Senate judiciary committee

The Democrats are doing irreparable harm in the name of their own political agenda and have made victims of Judge Kavanaugh and his family, Ms. Ford and all of us, the American people. In an interview that aired Sunday, Jeff Flake said that if that investigation found that Kavanaugh lied to the judicial committee during his hearing, his nomination would "be over", per CNN.

"The former five-term senator from MA also called it incomprehensible" that the Judiciary Committee had not sought to speak with Mark Judge, the friend of Kavanaugh's who Ford identified as the only other witness to her assault. They forced the White House to open a supplemental background investigation of sexual misconduct allegations against the judge. President Donald Trump, during a press conference Monday, said he was open to doing whatever the Senate wanted, and Flake said he had been backstage on the phone speaking with staff and others about that very thing.

Flake, as IJR noted, called for an FBI investigation after two women confronted him on an elevator on Friday - an encounter that, he said, "struck a chord".

The Republican senator at the center of the Supreme Court debate is vowing to make sure the FBI does "a real investigation" into President Donald Trump's nominee. And he will have resolved the contradictory they-were-both-credible formulation in favor of Kavanaugh and not Christine Blasey Ford.

Mr Kavanaugh denies the allegation.

But I saw a really good performance from my side in a hard game after we'd lost on Wednesday against them. But as long as we create chances like we did tonight, we will win football games".

Three days earlier, Flake single-handedly delayed Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation proceedings by insisting on an FBI investigation as a condition for his support.

Kavanaugh has denied assaulting Ford.

In March, Flake told New Hampshire Republicans that someone needs to stop Trump in the 2020 presidential contest.

"This institution has seen before episodes somewhat like what we're now seeing from some of our colleagues across the aisle", McConnell said.

"By the conventions of how party loyalists are supposed to behave, I hope to continue to fail my tribe", Flake said.

"He is taking flak from the left for not taking enough of a stand, and I am like, 'What more do you want?'" he said of the Kavanaugh battle. He said he may run - either as a Republican or an independent - if no one else does. Mitchell concluded in her memo: "I do not think that a reasonable prosecutor would bring this case based on the evidence before the committee". Trump said. "You have to stay within reason". I want it to be comprehensive.
