Tropical development likely in the Gulf over the next few days

Tropical wave could affect western Caribbean

Those from Appalachicola to the Gulf coasts of Alabama and MS need to closely monitor the forecast, this system could potentially be a hurricane in the Gulf.

We keep the showers around through Wednesday and into late week, where the forecast gets tricky.

So far the Atlantic has produced 12 named storms this year.

There is a tropical storm watch for the coast of Mexico from Tulum to Cabo Catoche, where tropical storm conditions are possible Sunday and Monday. The trade-off for today will be a mostly cloudy sky and the chance of a spot shower.

A potential tropical cyclone is looking to wreak havoc on Central America in the next few days.

Kavanaugh exits Harvard after students, in letter, ask for rescinding appointment
Kavanaugh's angry performance during his testimony, however, "cut against those recommendations". A Harvard Law School spokesperson confirmed that Kavanaugh would not return to teach.

With characteristics to Hurricane Nate, which in 2017 delivered widespread destruction across Central America one year ago before making landfall in Louisiana and MS, a system currently in the Caribbean now has high odds of moving into the Gulf of Mexico and becoming a tropical cyclone, forecasters said in the latest updates.

"Although strong winds aloft persist just to the north of the system, the upper-level environment is expected to be conducive enough to allow slow development", the NWS reports.

Maximum sustained winds were at 35 miles per hour at 5 a.m. and the depression was moving north-northwest at 3 miles per hour. The current forecast keeps the center east of MS, making landfall sometime Wednesday or early Thursday between Mobile and Panama City most likely as a tropical storm. Even though Hurricane Season ends November 30, it becomes rare for a system to push into the Central and West Gulf Coast after the first intact cold front of the fall.

On Tuesday, the severe threat will move into more-populated areas from Dallas to Des Moines, Iowa.
