Sancho has impressed from the bench for Dortmund this season

Dortmund's English midfielder Jadon Sancho applauds as he goes off during the UEFA Champions League Group A football match BVB Borussia Dortmund v AS Monaco in Dortmund, western Germany on October 3, 2018.

Gareth Southgate has verbally agreed a new contract which will see him remain as England manager until after the 2022 World Cup, Sky Sports News has learned.

With Dele Alli and Jesse Lingard injured and Adam Lallana and Ruben Loftus-Cheek making their way back to fitness, Southgate has turned to youth. "I'm always trying to find that balance, the messaging has to be correct, but it's good for their development to see how they train with us".

Sancho is the first player born this century to be called up by England.

"Well, it is (a big call) but I think it aligns with what we've done over the last 18 months, really", the Three Lions boss said. We think there are some exciting young players that we've been tracking, either through their clubs or our junior teams ... Sancho has more assists than any other player in Europe, appearing mostly as an impact sub for the Bundesliga giants.

After leading England to the World Cup semi-finals in Russian Federation, the Football Association (FA) rewarded Southgate with fresh terms until after Qatar 2022. "This contract extension is the result of his powerful performances", Dortmund's sporting director Michael Zorc told the club's official homepage.

Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex too plunged by 584.53 points, or 1.66 per cent, to 34,584.63 in late afternoon trade. The question was only of timing, said Radhika Rao, an economist at DBS in Singapore.

"He's been courageous enough to go overseas and play", Southgate said.

The star of England's Under-17 World Cup triumph last year, the 18-year-old has made just two starts in all competitions for the Premier League champions. The selection of Sancho and Mount, as well as set-piece specialist Maddison, is Southgate's way of confronting that problem.

His inclusion nonetheless raises eyebrows but Southgate feels his place and that of Derby County midfielder Mason Mount is well-deserved and with a number of key players absent through injury it gives both an opportunity to stake a claim. There are also call-ups for Watford's Nathaniel Chalobah and Tottenham's Harry Winks.

Borussia Dortmund's Sancho has risen from the under-19s - Southgate, however, said he would have been selected regardless of injuries - while Mount and Maddison had been part of Boothroyd's under-21 squad.

Southgate, who became England coach in November 2016, is contracted to stay in charge of the national team through to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
