Donald Trump on 'Criminal' Caravan Migrants: 'This Country Doesn't Want Them'

Honduran migrants board trucks sending them back to Honduras after they crossed the border into Guatemala illegally in their bid to reach the US

Organizers of a caravan of migrants trying to cross into Mexico and ultimately the us appear intent on avoiding a repeat of a rush on the border with Guatemala that ended when Mexican security forces with riot shields and pepper spray drove them back.

Many immigrants have expressed the opinion that they would rather be killed traveling to the U.S. than be forced to return to Honduras, a society in total collapse.

The migrants are generally fleeing poverty and insecurity in Honduras, where powerful street gangs rule their turf with brutal violence.

The migrant caravan has angered U.S. President Donald Trump.

"If the Democrats would stop being obstructionists and come together, we could write up and agree to new immigration laws in less than one hour", he posted at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday.

The Mexican government assured the Trump administration it would secure its borders while prioritizing the human rights and protections for children and pregnant members of a migrant caravan heading north.

"I'm going back because I've had enough, and this might be my only chance to go back safely, guarded by policemen", said 17-year-old Byron Espina from Copán.

Others returned to the Guatemalan side late Friday, where shelters have been providing them with food and water.

At a news conference with Videgaray, Pompeo called illegal migration a "crisis" and emphasized "the importance of stopping this flow before it reaches the U.S. border", while also acknowledging Mexico's right to handle the crisis in a sovereign fashion. He also said that if Mexico failed to block the migrants' course, he would deploy the United States military to the south-west border.

U.S. workers must recognize these immigrants as their brothers and allies in the fight against corporate exploitation and imperialist war. Trump has threatened to deploy the military to prevent them from crossing the USA border, also vowing to cut aid to countries that allow the caravan to pass.

Jose Mourinho's Manchester United are in the eighth position in Premier League . "[I had] a bit of everything [in the global break]".

"The law doesn't allow us to throw them the hell out", Trump said.

"There would be huge economic impacts for both the United States and Mexico ... but limited effect on illegal immigration", said Andrew Selee, president of the Migration Policy Institute.

BBC journalists spoke to some of the migrants travelling with the caravan as they wait at the border.

The map above shows the journey the caravan is taking from Honduras through Guatemala and up through Mexico into the U.S. "Tolerating illegality is not real compassion, not for own American citizens and not for illegal immigrants who are often abused by the inherent criminality of porous borders", Steve Cortes, president of the Trump Hispanic Advisory Council and a campaign adviser, tells The Washington Times.

"May Trump's heart be touched so he lets us through", Rodriguez said. We are quickly reaching a point which appears to be a moment of crisis: "record numbers of migrants", Pompeo told his Mexican counterpart, Luis Videgaray, during a visit to Mexico City.

On Thursday, Videgaray asked the United Nations for help processing what Mexico expects to be a large number of asylum requests.

Mr Trump is returning to familiar territory by renewing his case for a wall on the southern USA border, a main theme of his 2016 presidential victory, even though...

"Only God on high can stop us", Escobar said.

During a press briefing in Arizona on Friday, the President reminded reporters the groups are not "little angels" but rather "hardened criminals".
