The winning numbers for Friday night's drawing of $1 billion were 15 23 53 65 70 and Mega Ball 7. The second-largest jackpot was a $1.586 billion Powerball drawing on January 13, 2016.

Two Houston-area tickets that were sold are worth millions after the Mega Millions jackpot on Friday.

Grand prize winners receive their winnings either as a 30-year annuity or a lump sum. The Powerball pot is $430 million, and the top Mega Millions prize is a cool Dr. Evil-approved $1 billion.

Mega Millions officials confirmed nobody matched all six numbers to claim the $1bn (£765m) prize.

Material from the Associated Press was used in this report.

Tickets cost $2, which seems like a relatively small price to pay for a chance at becoming rich. "If you don't get all the numbers, like if you don't win the jackpot but you win some of the numbers, then it doubles your winnings", Sandra Carpenter said.

Earlier today , five-year-old Luke Vincent stole the show after he hugged Prince Harry and stroked his beard . The Duchess of Sussex has compared pregnancy to jetlag. "Woah, I was not expecting that", she then said.

Lucas beat odds of 1 in 1.2 million, according to the lottery's website. The pot's been growing since July when someone in California won the jackpot.

Though not at a historic amount like Mega Millions, the Powerball jackpot is also huge as well.

The Mega Millions jackpot is now bigger than ever before.

If there is a victor on Tuesday they will be able to opt for an immediate cash payment of $904m (£692m), or receive the $1.6bn over 29 years. The biggest single payout came in August 2017, when a MA woman claimed a single lump sum worth $480.5 million.

Finks said there tends to be a strong uptick in ticket sales once the jackpot crosses the $400 million threshold.

In 2016, a $1.58 billion Powerball prize was split three ways by ticket holders from California, Florida and Tennessee.
