After Saudi Arabia confirmed his death, she wrote on Twitter in Arabic: "They have taken your body from this world, but your attractive smile will stay in my world forever".

Investigators hunting for Khashoggi's body have tracked two Saudi Arabian consulate vehicles to separate locations outside the city centre.

American intelligence officials have said they intercepted communications showing that Saudi officials were plotting to lure Khashoggi back to the kingdom - an operation that was ordered by the crown prince, the officials said.

"I will make my statements about this issue on Tuesday at the party group meeting", Erdogan said.

Trump said: "We'd like to find out where it is and what happened".

The change indicated Qahtani would still retain significant influence in the Saudi effort to track dissidents online and disseminate official messages via a highly coordinated social-media strategy.

In a detailed account, the official said members of the 15-man Saudi team threatened to drug and kidnap Khashoggi and had "killed him in a chokehold" when he resisted.

The Turkish leader's statement came the day after Saudi authorities conceded Khashoggi had been killed inside their diplomatic compound in Istanbul. He adds Saudi officials do not know the whereabouts of Khashoggi's remains.

Trump said it 'certainly looks' like Jamal Khashoggi is dead
The Trump administration faces growing bipartisan outrage in Congress over Saudi Arabia's role in Mr Khashoggi's disappearance. Turkish officials have said they believe Khashoggi was murdered at the consulate and his body chopped up and removed.

Three European powers - Germany, Britain and France - pressed Riyadh to provide facts, and Chancellor Angela Merkel said Germany would not export arms to Saudi Arabia while uncertainty over Khashoggi's fate persisted.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Trump said that "obviously there's been deception, and there's been lies". The journalist has relatives still living in Saudi Arabia and three children who hold United States citizenship.

"If Saudi state involvement is indeed proven, the global community must stand firm in its stated resolve to insist on the highest level of investigation and punishment for those responsible - both for the perpetrators of this horrendous crime and the masterminds who ordered it".

The crown prince has denied any involvement.

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has accused Saudi Arabia of lying about the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, his strongest comments to date on the affair as pressure was building Sunday on the administration to strike a tougher line.

Separately, SPA also reported that Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman made a telephone call to Salah Khashoggi, in which the Crown Prince expressed his condolences to Salah and his family on the death. On Saturday Riyadh said he was killed in a fistfight in the consulate.

Saudi Arabia initially said he had left the building unharmed but on Friday admitted for the first time he was dead, saying that he was killed in a fight.
