"While we cannot comment on the specifics of an ongoing investigation, I can confirm that the Democratic Party of Georgia is under investigation for possible cyber crimes", Candice Broce, spokeswoman for the secretary of state's office, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Abrams, who is polling nearly neck-and-neck with Kemp, told CNN that she had been unaware of her opponent's investigation into her party.

The hotly contested Georgia governor's race has garnered national attention and is now neck and neck, with Ms Abrams up against Republican nominee Brian Kemp.

Winfrey did not mention Pence who, in appearances same day, charged Abrams with being "bankrolled by Hollywood liberals" and derided Winfrey's presence as well as a recent campaign appearance for Abrams by Will Ferrell. I've earned the right to think for myself.

"I said, when we were watching it, 'If that women can get folks to eat pizza with a cauliflower crust on it, she is going to get that woman elected the first black female governor.' She took people to church", the co-host added. "I don't want to run, OK?"

The Georgia gubernatorial race had already been fraught with a race-laden debate over ballot access and voter suppression.
