Florida Teenager Charged With Strangling, Burying Mother

The teen is charged with first-degree premeditated murder of his mother, Gail Cleavenger.

Deputies said Gregory Ramos confessed to killing his mother, 46-year-old Gail Cleavenger, by strangling her at the family's home on Alicante Road in DeBary late Thursday night after the two fought over his grades. So he went back to strangle her again.

Chitwood said the boy admitted killing his mother as she was sleeping.

"As the investigation began, it became quite apparent that this was not an act of random violence, that in fact the 15-year-old probably had killed his mother", Sheriff Mike Chitwood said.

The father was on a business trip in Seattle, WA, during the incident.

The boy faces murder charges, Sheriff Chitwood said. Then, police said, the teen returned home from school Friday and placed a call to 911 at 3:52 p.m., reporting a break-in.

The group also took several items from the home, including a PlayStation, a firearm and some electronics and hid them in the woods near the body to further the robbery-gone-bad ruse they planned to use the next day.

A judge on Sunday ordered a 15-year-old DeBary teenager, whom authorities said confessed to strangling his mother, to remain in juvenile detention until the next hearing in the case, according to a local state attorney's office. "All our hearts break for this family", Chitwood tweeted on Saturday. Chitwood said the boy is one of the "top three sociopaths" he has ever encountered, calling him a "soulless individual".

He described the boy as appearing "very proud of what he did" during his re-telling of the events.

Police also arrested his two friends, both 17.

In Ceglarek's case, the grandparents, Joe and Marion Cappizzi, of Deltona, who have custody of the teen who turns 18 on December 20, did not even know that their grandchild was not in school on Friday, the day Ceglarek was out helping Ramos, Jacques said.
