Melania Trump complimented the "fantastic" White House Christmas decorations after the colour scheme and sheer number of trees triggered protests on social media this week.

When asked by Eric Bolling, a political commentator and author, if she gets "enough credit from the media", Trump replied, "They would like to portray different stories and focus on different, unimportant stuff really".

She also weighed in on those red berry Christmas trees unveiled at the White House earlier this week, which have sparked comparisons to blood.

"The red Christmas trees in the White House", Bolling said, earning a laugh from Melania Trump.

"In real life they look even more attractive, and you are all very welcome to visit the White House - the 'people's house, '" she said.

Ukraine said the vessels were not even in the disputed waters but in global waters when a Russian patrol ship blocked their way. Germany regards the pipeline, which is being built by Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom, as a private investment.

"I teach him what is right, what is wrong, and I will always tell him that drugs, they could be very risky and they could mess up your mind and body", Trump said. Strongly resembling this year's red tree motif, last year's featured an array of white trees.

At the Lynchburg event, Trump made remarks about what she has seen in her time as first lady thus far, learning about the ongoing drug epidemic in America, and how she hopes to help prevent young people from becoming addicted to opioids. And what does the media - I'm telling you, I can't believe this - what are they hung up on with the first lady right now? "You're all very welcome to visit the White House".

During her speech, Mrs. Trump called the opioid epidemic the worst drug crisis in American history. I have also learned that addiction is a disease, and like any illness, people need and deserve treatment.
