What’s Happening With 'Friends' on Netflix?

"Friends" was one of Netflix's biggest acquisitions in 2014, when the streamer first announced that all 10 seasons would become available. It came to the streaming platform on January 1, 2015. And in the meantime, it's reportedly squeezing $100 million out of Netflix to allow the company to have Friends for one last exclusive year, in 2019. Hope everybody enjoyed the four years of Friends on Netflix! With HBO, Warner Bros., and TBS, WarnerMedia's content is a bit more diffuse.

However, it may not be all smooth sailing for the Friends Netflix rights in the future.

For all the talk of Netflix being able to survive mostly on the strength of its original content, there was certainly a significant amount of uproar yesterday when it looked like Friends was leaving the streaming service's library.

Later in the day Netflix US cleared the air assuring fans that Friends will still be available throughout 2019 and the expiration date was removed.

Deontay Wilder-Tyson Fury bout ends in a controversial draw
The fight would last the full twelve rounds, with the judges eventually scoring it a draw:: 115-111 Wilder, 114-110 Fury, 113-113. The ring is ready for Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder to clash in the WBC Belt heavyweight title fight this afternoon.

"The Holiday Armadillo has granted your wish: "Friends" will still be there for you in the USA throughout 2019", the U.S. account tweeted - a reference to the season 7 episode in which Ross improvises a new holiday character after being unable to find a Santa suit.

This is good news for fans who've been enjoying the show on Netflix, and experienced a massive freakout when they saw an onscreen message proclaiming the show would only be available to stream until January 1, 2019.

Adding to the complexity is that despite WarnerMedia's stance on Friends, the company's chief executive, John Stankey, has also said that WarnerMedia shows will indeed migrate back from other streaming platforms once WarnerMedia launches its apps.
