Vince McMahon's original XFL lasted one season of play.

While the league is now filling out some of the details on its plans and schedules, the great unanswered question remains: is there really much of a desire for any of this?

St. Louis is the only XFL home city that does not have a current National Football League team after the Rams moved back to Los Angeles in 2016.

We'll come to the CFL part in a bit.

The other host cities include New York (MetLife Stadium), Dallas (Globe Life Park), Houston (TDECU Stadium), Los Angeles (StubHub Center), Seattle (Century Link Field), Tampa Bay (Raymond James Stadium), and Washington D.C. (Audi Field).

New York: MetLife Stadium, home of the Giants and Jets.

Seattle: CenturyLink Field, home of the Seahawks.

"Combined these markets comprise almost a quarter of the nation's population", said XFL commissioner and CEO Oliver Luck at a news conference held at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium. "We plan to invite those players to try out for the XFL".

I think they are still learning how to play with one another and trying to adapt to (coach Luke Walton's) system. Last season, James averaged 36.9 minutes while playing in all 82 games for the first time in his career.

As for the reimagination of football? Luck said a big focus will be on a faster-moving game, with fewer breaks in play, fewer timeouts and fewer TV timeouts.

"We believe launching in February 2020 gives us the time to get the game, the fan experience and the partnerships right, and we believe we are well on our way", Luck said.

Also, the league said tickets will have an "affordable price" but the ticket price range was not announced. That is ... not dramatically shorter than a typical National Football League game.

The league is said to have simplified rules that will make the pace quicker.

Luck says they will look for the best coaches and players available and majority will have college and National Football League experience.

Some of those players have filtered up to the CFL in the past.
