We got our first taste of Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay as footage teasing the game's new characters, fatalities and story was revealed at a live event Thursday. This is an event which was alluded to at the climax of Mortal Kombat X.

Developer NetherRealm Studios also showed off the story prologue and some delightfully violent fatalities - including a variant on Sub Zero's klassic head-and-spine rip.

Under Armour will be celebrating the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 video game by teaming up with Mache Customs to create custom versions of the UA Anatomix Spawn.

There were 25 character slots shown in the livestream, and we had our first look at new time-manipulating character Geras. Character customisation, similar to Injustice 2, is also a thing, allowing for all manner of costumes and looks for your favourite fighter.

Those who pre-order onPlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One or Xbox One X at select retailers, will also receive access to the beta, which will be available on March 28, 2019 for those platforms.

The presentation ended with the reveal of an all-new character, Geras, a hefty monster of a fighter, who appears to have time-manipulation powers similar to Kronika, whom he serves, as well as skills that allow him to shift the sands of time, literally.

Weapons could be on their way back to the Mortal Kombat franchise for the first time since 2006.
