National Basketball Association trade deadline: Rockets dealing Stauskas, Baldwin

Alec Burks Houston Rockets

Exciting trade developments for the Kings as they looked to extend their three-game winning streak Wednesday. The Cavaliers, who announced the trade on Thursday, sent guard Alec Burks to the Kings and guards Nik Stauskas and Wade Baldwin and a 2021 second-round pick (via Milwaukee) to the Rockets.

The Rockets will send guard Brandon Knight, forward Marquese Chriss and a 2019 lottery protected first-round pick to the Cavaliers, league sources said.

Houston picked up the two players in a deal that netted the team Iman Shumpert from the Kings.

The Rockets? They save a bundle here. He's set to make $15.6 million next season.

The Shumpert trade will save the #Rockets about $7.7M this season (most of that in luxury tax savings) and potentially a TON of money in 2019-20.

The reported deal would also send 7-foot-3 centre Boban Marjanovic and 6-foot-8 forward Mike Scott to Philadelphia. Philadelphia's odds of winning the Eastern Conference also jumped from 5-1 to 9-4 at the SuperBook.

On the other hand, the Rockets add a guy they've been interested in for awhile.

Houston has struggled to replace the void left by Trevor Ariza and Shumpert is a player with championship experience from his time playing with LeBron James and the Cavs.

Today is the National Basketball Association trade deadline so it only makes sense that National Basketball Association general managers have been active when it comes to making deals. The 28-year old has a reputation as a good defender.

In return, the deal gives Houston the right to swap 2021 second-round draft picks with Philadelphia, according to The Athletic.
