Second woman accuses Virginia's Lt Governor of sexual assault

It worked for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. As a part-time lieutenant governor, Fairfax keeps a small team of aides working on his behalf in Richmond.

A Virginia lawmaker on Monday backed off his plans to swiftly introduce an impeachment bill seeking the ouster of the state's leading black elected official as Democrats struggled to address revelations of past racist behavior and allegations of sexual assault roiling its highest levels of office. He said he believed Fairfax's two accusers.

The interview, which follows Northam's first post-scandal interview with The Washington Post, comes after the governor spent almost a week in seclusion.

Earlier this month, on February 1, a photo from Northam's medical school yearbook was resurfaced, appearing to show the politician and another person wearing racist costumes - with one dressed in blackface and another wearing KKK robes, according to The Virginian-Pilot.

However, Northam then went on to claim that he was not, in fact, either of the people in the photo and refused to step down amid growing calls for his resignation.

Two women have accused Fairfax of sexual assault.

Marcus Simon, a Virginia Democrat, is a member of the House of Delegates and parliamentarian for House Democrats.

"Wow, so this was all about you?" co-host Juan Williams asked. She only began to tell friends about the alleged assault in October 2017, after seeing a photo of Fairfax next to an article about his campaign.

It doesn't feel like a logical destination for Harper. "If he comes over, he makes the team better", Gregorius said. In the grand scheme of things, San Francisco seems like a destination that would be a flawless fit for Harper.

On Saturday, Fairfax issued a statement repeating his strong denials that he had ever sexually assaulted anyone and made clear he does not intend to immediately step down and says he is calling for authorities, including the FBI, to investigate. Because of "the deep shame and humiliation" she suffered afterwards, she said she didn't speak of it for years. Ms. Watson also told friends, including Justin Fairfax. As the #MeToo movement intensified, she approached The Washington Post, which decided not to publish her story.

Top Democratic leaders called on Northam to resign in the wake of his blackface scandal, but the governor appears intent on remaining in office.

"Ms. Watson was raped by a basketball player during her sophomore year at Duke".

Meanwhile, a second woman came forward Friday accusing Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax of sexual assault.

He said Tyson told him oral sex in particular brought back painful memories of her childhood trauma.

When you read them, the accusations ring very true.

Fairfax's policy director, Adele McClure, and scheduler, Julia Billingsly, both called it quits Monday, as did David Mills and Courtney McCargo, two employees of his We Rise Together political action committee, Fairfax's spokeswoman Lauren Burke said.

Watson's lawyer said the circumstances of the alleged assault in 2000 were similar to what Tyson had described happening four years later, but declined to provide further details. None of the 10 witnesses interviewed could corroborate the allegations lodged against him.

The statute of limitations in MA for criminal allegations of a sexual nature is 15 years, which means local law enforcement in Boston has up until some point in July this year to file charges against Fairfax.
