Pakistan has chose to respond to India at its own choice of a time and a place, the National Security Council (NSC) meeting concluded on Tuesday which was convened to combat the recent spike in tensions between nuclear-armed Pakistan and India after Indian Air Force (IAF) violated Pakistan's airspace and the Line of Control (LOC).

Although Pakistani officials denied there had been any casualties, Islamabad condemned New Delhi's action and said it would respond at a time and place of its choice.

In the following two paragraphs, the foreign secretary added more information about the attacks, while continuing to drive home this key point: the strike was aimed at Jaish, not Pakistan, and was carried out to prevent another attack on India.

Indian Air Force conducted a successful air-strike in Jaish-E-Mohammed launch pads in Pakistan.

India says it has carried out pre dawn air strikes in Pakistan on a camp of the Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad, which claimed responsibility for a suicide auto bomb that killed 40 paramilitary troops in Indian Kashmir almost two weeks ago.

Pakistan Air Force jets were scrambled in response to the incursion, he said. He said there were no casualties and no damage. "In an intelligence-led operation in the early hours of today, India struck the biggest training camp of JeM in Balakot", Mr Gokhale said.

There was confusion among analysts over the location as Balakot town is in Pakistan's northwestern Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, some 40 kilometres (25 miles) northeast of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistani-administered Kashmir.

Earlier at about 6 am, the Pakistan army had resorted to shelling and small arms fire in the Krishna Ghati sector, the spokesperson said.

Indian aircraft "released payload in haste. near Balakot", he wrote.

The organisation earlier claimed responsibility for the deadly attack against an Indian security convoy in Kashmir on February 14. An Mi 17 chopper of the Indian Air Force also crashed in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly around 10.40 am.

The Indian aircraft intruded from Muzafarabad sector, Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet at 6:36 am.

India said Tuesday, February 26, its warplanes attacked a militant camp where Pakistan-backed fighters were preparing suicide attacks on its cities, sending tensions between the arch-rivals to a new peak.

No casualties have been reported in Pakistan.

There has been mounting impatience in India to avenge the February 14 attack, which was the most deadly seen in Kashmir during an insurgency that has lasted three decades, and as news of the raid broke, celebrations erupted across the country.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan said last week his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi should "give peace a chance".

"We built bunkers near our home years ago and we will use them if there is any attack from India in our area", said Mohammad Shafiq, 55. No statement was issued after the meeting, but Human Resources Minister Prakash Javadekar told reporters: "This was a necessary step by the air force".

India has killed at least eight JeM members and detained some 50 militants, allies, and relatives since the bomb attack.

"If such actions continue, it can escalate into major conflict, which will not serve any goal but to plunge the region into serious crisis", he said. The Pakistan-based militant group Jaish-e-Mohammad claimed responsibility.
