A total of 23 people died during the devastating storms this past weekend.

He says, "What they've been through is incredible".

Trump used a felt pen to scratch out his signature on the cover of the girl's Bible, which is decorated with pink camouflage, and first lady Melania Trump then added her signature.

Preliminary reports indicate the deadly twister reached an EF-4 category with winds estimated at 170 miles per hour.

"Our dear friends, Ashley and David Thornton lost their precious daughter, Taylor in that storm", the friend, Kaitlyn Willing, wrote on the GoFundMe page.

Shannon Kelley talks on the phone as she walks down her street after a tornado struck in Beauregard, Alabama.

Beauregard, named for a Confederate general, is an unincorporated community of roughly 10,000 people near the Georgia state line.

Trump says "it's been a tragic situation but a lot of good work is being done".

He did not specify the number of people missing while the Lee County coroner has asked the state mortuary response team for help, the Weather Channel reported.

Trump has said he's instructed FEMA to give Alabama "the A Plus treatment" as it recovers.

The huge EF4 tornado struck the rural community of Beauregard on Sunday afternoon, blasting an area almost a mile wide with 170 miles per hour (270 kph) winds.

In response to King's suggestion that a lot of that issue "was on [him]", Kelly admitted: "A lot of it's on me". "Stop it. She said it was her mother who had pushed her into performing and that the pressure had led to her attempt suicide.

And an outbreak of tornadoes in the Southeast a month before that left an estimated 316 people dead, including at least 250 in Alabama.

The National Weather Service has confirmed at least 38 tornadoes touched down in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and SC as punishing storms crossed the region Sunday.

Three counties in central Alabama were affected by tornadoes on Sunday.

"This is a hard time for the state of Alabama, but knowing that we have this additional assistance, and the support of our president and folks across the country, we will get through this together".

The tornado was part of a storm system that also traveled through parts of Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia.

Bill Bunting, chief of forecast operations at the center, says the areas most at risk Saturday include Arkansas, most of MS, and central and northern Alabama.

The area at risk of storms is home to 41 million people and includes major cities such as Dallas, New Orleans and Atlanta.

The destruction of Beauregard, in Lee county, now little more than a tableau of smashed mobile homes, toys, clothes, insulation, water heaters, metal and severed pine trees, showed the strength of a storm that now ranks as the deadliest in six years and which one official compared to "a giant knife scraping the ground".

Pope Francis is sending condolences to tornado victims in Alabama, where searchers have been scouring a dismal landscape of shattered homes, splintered pines and broken lives.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump said he will survey the damage Friday.

While passing through much of the damage on the way to meet the families at the shelter, according to a pool report, the motorcade passed neighborhoods that had been destroyed in the March 3 tornado.
