The Chicago Sun-Times said Kelly spent three nights behind bars after he was hit with a civil contempt charge when his ex-wife Drea Kelly complained that he missed more than eight months of payments to support his three children.

Celebrated American Musician R Kelly was on Saturday released from jail after USD161000 (KSH16.1 million) was paid for child support to ex-lover.

In the case of alleged sexual abuse, Kelly was jailed on February 22 and released three days later after posting $100,000 bail.

The embattled US R&B artist was last month charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, involving four alleged victims, three of whom were minors.

Lawyers for the singer said that he was unable to pay the bill himself, and a representative for the Cook County Sheriff's Departent told reporters that they're unsure who did.

Kelly, 52, was ordered into custody on Wednesday by a judge after he said he did not have the entire $161,000 he owed in child support.

Speaking outside the prison, Kelly, whose real name is Robert Sylvester Kelly, said he was "going to straighten all this stuff out".

R. Kelly was released from jail on Saturday after a $161,000 child support payment was made on his behalf.

Kelly told CBS This Morning people had stolen money from his bank accounts.

The defense attorney who got R. Kelly acquitted of sexually abusing a young girl 11-years ago, now says his client was guilty and he knew it. He now remains behind bars in a Cook County jail and will stay there unless he can come up with the amount owed which is $161,633, according to TMZ Friday.
