President Trump Sends Record-Breaking Budget to Congress

Trump plans to ask for another $8.6B to fund border wall: report

House Democrats on Tuesday zeroed in on "malicious" proposed cuts to health care and other social programs, reviving their winning midterm message in a first attack on President Donald Trump's proposed $4.7 trillion fiscal 2020 budget proposal.

Just as it did past year, the budgetary wish list that Trump is sending to Congress for 2020 suggests cutting the program to $30 million.

Similarly, Trump's proposals to eviscerate DOE research programs only served to underscore their popularity on Capitol Hill. Democrats in Congress, however, are attempting to block the declaration and the reallocation of funds. Rob Portman, R-Ohio.

In contrast, multiple Democratic presidential candidates - namely U.S. Sen. The work requirements will likely reduce program participation.

"Ohioans rely on Lake Erie for jobs, clean drinking water, and a place to enjoy with their families", said a statement from Brown.

"We will certainly fight against any proposed cuts that target Americans' basic standard of living", said Alexandra Weinroth, spokeswoman for House Budget Committee Chairman John Yarmuth, Kentucky Democrat.

Democrats described the White House's budget as a "gut-punch" to the country's middle class, arguing reduced spending on numerous health and safety programs would be "devastating" to Americans. "Federal workers are the backbone of a functioning government, and they deserve better than what we've seen from this Administration".

Following a State of the Union address that contained little new policy, the budget is hardly a surprise.

It cuts the Department of Housing and Urban Development by 16 percent and Education by 10 percent, but includes $1 billion for a child care fund championed by the president's daughter, Ivanka Trump, a White House adviser. In previous years, lawmakers have reached several budget deals to alter BCA caps that included parallel increases for defense and non-defense programs. "However, there is no question, President Trump's job growth policies are helping the American economy".

"An unbelievable quality of life for all of our citizens is within reach", Trump said in a statement accompanying the budget proposal. He proposed cutting $818 billion from projected Medicare spending over the next decade along with $1.5 trillion in cuts from projected spending on Medicaid.

"Many of the architects of his original proposal are no longer in the administration", said Feigenbaum, meaning the White House could have "folks with a different list of priorities that are not as strictly free market as they once were". The Brook Park facility is playing a key role in the agency's Moon to Mars program, which aims to establish a permanent human presence on the moon and eventually send astronauts to Mars. The President's budget also requests $8.6 in funding for a wall on the southern border. "Too many people in New Hampshire continue to struggle to get the lifesaving treatment that they desperately need, which is why Congress and the administration must continue to work together to deliver resources where they are needed most".

The budget also requests 6.1 billion dollars for the Environmental Protection Agency, down by 2.8 billion dollars, or 31 percent, from the estimate for fiscal year 2019.

Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought echoed the deficit concerns during the briefing.

The Trump administration's 2017 corporate tax cuts have been blamed for expanding the budget deficit, and the measure's effect on economic growth is waning.

Trump's proposal for the fiscal year that begins October 1 also includes an additional $8.6 billion to build the planned U.S-Mexico border wall. "It's only now in our third budget that they're willing to have a conversation about the national debt".

When asked if the administration had crunched numbers for the possibility of GDP falling short of expectations, something closer to 2%, Vought said officials in the budget office "haven't run alternative scenarios", adding, "We're going to be vindicated".

At least one Northeast Ohio member of Congress applauded Trump's budget proposal. "It is about Border Security and the Wall (stopping Crime, Drugs etc.), not Constitutionality and Precedent", he wrote on Twitter Monday.
