The magazine subscription service will be integrated into the existing Apple News app and is based on the company's acquisition of Texture a year ago.

"We will participate in the original content world", Cook said while discussing Apple's plans for video content including a partnership with Oprah Winfrey.

Whatever is the case, Apple's "It's Show Time" event will bring fans new services and products to enjoy at home or on the go.

Cupertino giant Apple has officially sent out invites for an event on March 25th at the company's new Steve Jobs theater in Cupertino, California.

Similarly, Trump's proposals to eviscerate DOE research programs only served to underscore their popularity on Capitol Hill. Acting Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought echoed the deficit concerns during the briefing.

It's been three years since the Apple video service rumour mill started churning, but it looks like the Netflix rival could now be just around the corner.

Buzzfeed reported that during the event, Apple would also launch premium news subscription services. Further, neither of the popular media services likely feel that they need Apple to attract or retain subscribers. Presumably, the shows Apple has already released on Apple Music, such as Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps, will be on the streaming service, but that isn't clear. The rumours mentioned that the company might focus on services.

There's no word on how this new entertainment platform will work but it could be similar to services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video with users paying a monthly fee to gain access to content on demand.

It's been pointed out by BuzzFeed's technology editor, John Paczkowski, that Apple used the same tagline in 2006 for the event at which it previewed what would become Apple TV.
