The Democratic National Committee has shut Fox News out of hosting a Democratic primary debate, but it has announced a town hall for one of the party's primary front-runners, Sen.

Candidates are required by law to track and report all campaign donations, and those collected in the first quarter must be disclosed by April 15.

In March of 2016, Sanders notably participated in FNC's only Democratic town hall during the 2016 presidential election cycle alongside former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Greenwood speculates O'Rourke's number will rival Sanders's, given that in the first 24 hours of his presidential campaign, O'Rourke said he had raised some $6.1 million. Senior adviser Jeff Weaver said the campaign still has outpaced its 2016 performance, when it took Sanders 146 days to hit the 900,000-contributions mark.

Looking at how much each candidate raised in the first quarter divided by how long they've been in the race found that Sanders averaged $444,000 a day; Harris $171,000 a day; and Buttigieg $103,000 a day. Kamala Harris, who raised $12 million since launching her 2020 run in late January. According to Nielsen Media Research, that town hall averaged 2.6 million viewers and almost 500,000 in the 25-54 demographic, beating CNN and MSNBC combined in overall viewers in the 6PM/ET timeslot.

Pete Buttigieg, the relatively unknown millennial mayor of South Bend, Indiana, who launched a 2020 presidential exploratory committee two months ago, raised $7m in the first quarter of 2019 - an impressive haul for a candidate whose name many people are still only just learning how to pronounce.

Hundreds of Palestinian men, some from Hamas , were deployed in bright orange vests to deter people from going near the fence. It noted that Gaza is "one of the most risky places in the world to be a health worker".

But campaign officials said that this financial target had always been ambitious, and was meant to galvanize Sanders' grassroots base. The average age of the donors was under 39.

Mr Buttigieg said he has nearly 160,000 unique donors, a mark that meets the new grassroots fundraising thresholds that the Democratic National Committee has set for candidates to qualify for the initial summer debates.

New CEO Brian Wancho told the Daily Caller that the 2020 campaign isn't using the company for social media or web services, adding that it was unlikely O'Rourke acted unethically by paying the company.

Shakir emphasized that most of Sanders' contributions came from small-dollar donors who are likely to give again later in the campaign.

"No bundling, no sneaking off to posh fundraisers with fancy hors d'eouvres", said campaign manager Faiz Shakir. She earned donations from 218,000 individual contributions in the first quarter of 2019.
