Disney confirms its Disney+ streaming service will eventually launch globally

As the streaming wars between major giants like Netflix and more continue to build up demand for new origial series and content, this fall another major competitor will enter the field this fall through Disney, and it appears that game consoles will be among the supported devices for the service's launch later this year.

The streaming service launches on November 12 in the United States with prices set at $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year. Subscribers will be able to download all of the shows and movies on Disney's service to watch offline.

Disney will also contend with a new streaming service from Apple, which is expected to be released in the fall. The company confirmed that it will include almost every animated feature from Disney alongside a number of the company's other properties, including films from the Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars canon.

Disney+ will become available to subscribers in the United States on Tuesday, Nov. 12. These titles are part of more than 7,500 TV episodes and 400 movies to be made available on the service.

All Pixar films will be available within the first year of launch and all Pixar theatrical shorts will be available from Day 1.

Disney Plus plans to hit the ground running higher, further, and faster, launching the streaming service with Marvel's "Captain Marvel" on day one.

"Monsters At Work", with actors Billy Crystal and John Goodman reprising their roles as "Mike" and "Sully", brings the world of "Monster's Inc." to Disney Plus as well in a new animated show. The show will be based on Luna's character, Cassian Andor.

The Investor Day event featured remarks from The Walt Disney Company's senior management team, including Robert A. Iger, chairman and chief executive officer; Kevin Mayer, chairman, Direct-to-Consumer and International; Christine McCarthy, senior executive vice president and chief financial officer; Lowell Singer, senior vice president, Investor Relations; and Jimmy Pitaro, president, ESPN and co-chair, Disney Media Networks.

The Mandalorian is the first-ever live-action TV series in the Star Wars universe.

A Star Wars-centric live-action series, titled "The Mandalorian" and directed by Jon Favreau, was also revealed for a launch-day release.

Disney+ will host hours of content from the National Geographic Channel, as well.
