More than 70 British lawmakers have urged their government to prioritize any extradition bid Sweden might make for WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, who is also wanted in the United States.

Police bundle WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, centre right, from the Ecuadorian embassy into a police van in London after he was arrested by officers from the Metropolitan Police and taken into custody Thursday April 11, 2019.

Those charges were dropped in May 2017, but Swedish prosecutors say they are now re-examining the case after a request by one of the alleged victim's lawyers.

Assange was arrested after Ecuador revoked the political asylum that had kept him holed up at the embassy for almost seven years.

"In this case, the suspected crime of rape would be subject to statute of limitation in mid-August 2020".

"No-one should be able to sit over the law and be evaded by a legal process", she said in a statement.

The Home Secretary, a senior Cabinet official, has some leeway to block extradition under certain specific circumstances, including cases where a person facing extradition might face capital punishment or torture in that country.

Sweden suspended its investigation into possible serious sexual misconduct against Assange two years ago because he was beyond their reach while he was living in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London with political asylum status.

Australian-born Assange, 47, also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit computer intrusion in the U.S. for his alleged role in one of the largest ever leaks of government secrets in 2010.

He felt good going through warmups and tried to play, but the injury started bothering him during the game and he was removed. His absence is a severe blow to Boston , given his ability to guard most positions on the floor.

Swedish prosecutors opened an investigation into Assange after two women accused him of sexual offenses during a 2010 visit to Sweden.

"It's not going to happen", Mr Samuelson told the Expressen newspaper.

Mr Marchan said: "He has said that we were spying on him, he has said we were lying, we were agents of the United States".

"As the U.S. has now submitted an extradition application, the Americans have preferential rights under global rules".

He is now on remand in custody awaiting sentencing at Southwark Crown Court over his bail breach.

However, the US Department of Justice claims that he faces just five years behind bars on hacking charges.

"Regardless of where you stand on this, he must face these allegations in Sweden and clear his name if he thinks he's innocent", Maajid said.

Extradition lawyer Ben Keith said the court will not assess the evidence against Assange to determine his guilt or innocence but will scrutinize whether the offence he is accused of in the USA would be a crime in Britain. He feared that if he was taken to Sweden, he would be handed to the USA authorities.
