Tiger Woods survives security guard to remain in Masters contention

Former Oregon Ducks' star Aaron Wise posted a 4-under par 68 in his third round at the Masters on Saturday

Former Oregon Ducks' star Aaron Wise posted a 4-under par 68 in his third round at the Masters on Saturday

Four-time victor Woods rolled in a 7-foot birdie putt at the 16th, sending roars cascading across Augusta National as he moved to 11-under for the tournament.

But all eyes will be fixed firmly on Woods, who is attempting to win a fifth Masters green jacket and a 15th major in his first real Masters chance since sharing fourth in 2013.

Reigning British Open champion Francesco Molinari, last year's British Open and PGA Championship victor Brooks Koepka, Australians Jason Day and Adam Scott and South African Louis Oosthuizen all shared the midway lead.

All three players in the final group birdied that hole, before Woods produced a magnificent lag putt from 70 feet on the ninth to ensure he was able to rescue par and stay on Molinari's heels.

Tigers Woods wins the Masters for the 5th time.

This is Augusta National, where the gallery that cheered louder with each birdie by Woods made it clear they were aching to see the four-time champion slip a green jacket over a red shirt for the first time since 2005.

Finau, who dislocated his ankle while celebrating an ace in last year's Par-3 Contest on the eve of his Masters debut, surged into contention with an eight-under 64 that brought him to 11 under, two shots off leader Francesco Molinari.

The 15-time major champion was clearly emotional walking up the No. 18 fairway and needed a couple of putts too finish it. He hugged his mother and then his 11-year-old daughter Sam, and everyone else in his camp that stood by him through a public divorce, an embarrassing DUI arrest from a concoction of painkillers and four back surgeries, the most recent one just two years ago to fuse his lower spine.

Woods pumped his fist while the crowd roared after sinking his bogey putt on the 18th hole to clinch the win.

The San Antonio Spurs treated Dirk Nowitzki with the class he deserves
The Mavericks finished their season on the road Wednesday night against the San Antonio Spurs . Unlike Wade, Nowitizki kept his retirement plans under wraps until the Mavericks home finale.

"I'm just thankful to be able to come back here and play again", Woods said.

"The front nine is harder to score on, so I don't think that's totally out of the ordinary, " Spieth said.

"Mentally was very good", he said. In 2006, the Masters started play at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday but that was in order to finish the third round.

"The last three major championships I've been right there", he said. With all of his back problems, Woods goes through a lengthy process to get ready to play any competitive round of golf.

While the likes of Tony Finau, Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele were lighting up the leaderboard at The Masters, Tiger Woods sputtered to a slow start to begin his third round Saturday, carding four consecutive pars before making a bogey at the fifth.

"I wasn't going to let that happen to them twice", he said.

"My plan is to go out and do the same, but I think there's going to be a few guys trying to mess up with my plan".

Mickelson stumbled to a 73 but still was only three shots behind.
